Dr. Layi Fatona is a Petroleum Geologist with forty years of practicing experience commencing with a seven year stint in the Petroleum Engineering and Exploration & Production Departments at the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd (SPDC). He obtained both the Masters of Science and Doctorate degrees respectively from the Royal School of Mines at the Imperial College of Science Technology and Medicine of the University of London in 1976 and 1980. He is a past President and a Fellow of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists, (NAPE), and a Certified Petroleum Geologist of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG). He is a leading authority on the Geology of the Niger Delta Oil and Gas Province.
He is a Reservoir and Software Engineer with some 32 years of practical experience. He graduated with a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (1977) from the University of Lagos and began his oil field career with Schlumberger in 1978 as a Wireline Logging Engineer. He joined Shell (Nigeria) in 1980 where he acquired rich practical oil field experiences spanning reserves estimation and administration; field development design, planning and execution; field operations optimization and production analytics; data management and corporate information planning . Edirin taught petro physics and computing at the Shell Intensive Training Program (SITP) for graduate engineers and geoscientists (2000 - 2003) and still teaches the reservoir engineering module of Shell's EPOC training program for staff. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers International (SPE), the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) as well as US Association of Computing Machinery (ACM).
Olajide Aworanti is a career Petroleum Geologist with over 32 years of national and international experience in various aspects of upstream Petroleum Industry He has twenty one years' experience in Shell Nigeria and Netherlands. During this period He held various positions including production geologist/seismic interpreter, Team Head of Geology/Seismology in SPOC Western operations and Deputy Area Team Development Manager. During this time he coordinated several cross functional integrated Petroleum Engineering and Front end Engineering Field studies leading to generation of Field development plans for these fields. He, in addition coordinated the implementation of these development plans (Well drilling and surface facilities upgrade/ construction, operations and maintenance) for these fields. On retirement in 1999 from Shell he worked as learning and development consultant to Shell Petroleum Development Company Nigeria, facilitating the technical module of the Shell course; 'Introducing the Exploration and Production Business'. In addition he has conducted and coordinated various Petroleum Engineering Integrated Field Reviews and planning of Field Development programs for oil and gas fields in Nigeria. He also carries out acreage evaluations with the aim of advising on exploration, appraisal and development requirements for new acreages. He is an expert user of Landmarks' Geographix/ SeisWorks and Schlumberger Petrel software.
Laz Nwaozor has a degree in geology from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria. He worked in various capacities in the petroleum engineering function of Shell Petroleum Development Company Nigeria Ltd, for 28 years, mostly as a senior petro physicist, in both Nigeria and at the Shell Research Laboratory, Rijswijk, the Netherlands. His experience spans wellsite petroleum engineering operations; field, reservoir and well evaluations; integrated field reviews, development planning and execution; well coring operations, core analysis & core/log integration. While at Shell, Laz also acted as technology & research liaison with a number of Nigerian Universities where his coordination, coaching and mentoring of students was much valued.. He left Shell in May 2008 as Team Lead, Corporate Development Well Delivery Department which was responsible for the delivery of the development wells for the US$4.6 billion Soku and Gbaran/Ubie Integrated Oil & Gas field developments targeted to supply 200 MMScf/day of natural gas to trains 4&5 of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) project. He also played a pivotal role in the development of the Utorogu gas wells for the domestic gas supply (DOMGAS) and the for the West African Gas Pipeline (WAGP) projects.
A highly skilled Production Technologist with over 35 years’ experience, of which 27 years was spent with Shell Petroleum, both in Nigeria and the Netherlands. Roland has been involved in numerous well completion designs and operations. His work experience spans diverse environments and locations, including EA Shallow Water Off-shore, Nigeria. He has excellent ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team environment. A good team player, he spent over 10 years in Multi-discipline Integrated Studies and Field Development Teams, often as coordinator, both in The Hague and Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Roland takes an active interest in knowledge sharing and coaching/mentoring of staff. He is a mentor/coach in Integrated Production System Capacity Planning and Operations Reference Planning using Petroleum Experts Integrated Production Modeling (IPM) suite – GAP, MATBAL and PROSPER.
Tunde is a 1992 B.Sc. graduate of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Nigeria, where he emerged with an upper class combined honors degree, in Computer Science and Economics. He is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MSCE), who since graduation, has participated majorly as a systems analyst, in a rich variety of software development and systems engineering projects spanning design and implementation petroleum engineering applications and databases for the oil and gas industry, community banking software, vehicle maintenance costs and vetting systems, loan scheme and management software, material management software and purchase order systems, asset and equipment maintenance, valuation & monitoring systems, human resource & payroll management, business accounting software and pension administration management. Tunde is versatile in a good number of programming languages, operating systems and software platforms, such as: Microsoft Windows XP, 2000 Server, Windows 2003 Server OS; Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005 Database; SQL Server Reporting Services; Oracle 11g Database; Object-Oriented Software Development with VB6.0, VB.NET; HTML, XML; ASP.NET 2.0/3.5, VB.NET 2005/2008; Data Modeling Tools; Crystal Reports design and integration. Tunde transited to Geotrex since 2008, where he led a team that developed and delivered a number of key subsurface petroleum engineering software for a number of our clients which to date remain the flagship of their historic production data and allocation systems.
